Scattered Saturday

Holy Toledo---How long has it been since I posted???

Well I've been ill and we've all been a wee bit busy. I finally caught the virus that has been going around. It seems to be stuck in my sinuses and ear...which means I will probably get an ear infection. 32 year olds aren't supposed to get ear infections.

A. seems to be doing a little bit better at school. At the PTSO meeting the announced "SnapGrades" which essentially the teacher's grade book is now online and I will know what A. is doing and what assignments he has or has not turned in. A.'s teacher will also know when I have checked to look. Can any one say "BIG BROTHER"? Actually I guess I don't mind this. I think it is going to be more stressful for teachers than less stressful.

A. also started Karate this week. The class is really late. He will be up past regular bedtime. But he enjoys doing it and I feel like that it should continue so lateness will be excused this time and only this time.

N.'s teacher "got me" when I took in snacks last Friday. I ended up with 2 projects when I left. Crazy!!! But totally fun. It is so fun to get into the Kindergarten class.

So my parents are on their way to NEBRASKA for a week. My brother is going to sell his place and he needed help getting the place cleaned up sooooo this is how my parents spend their vacation time.

My cousin Val's boyfriend died this week suddenly of heat stroke. They were having the viewing today. I was torn between going and not going. The drive was long and since my parents are gone I didn't feel comfortable staying at their house. I know Val will understand but still I probably should have ditched the birthday party to go today. But seeing as how I wasn't feeling 100% and the list of things I need to is a mile long we decided not to make the drive. It is incredibly sad when someone young dies. 44 years old! TOO YOUNG!!

Today's Dinner Plan--Frozen Spaghetti sauce (sorry but dinner out last night, don't feel up to cooking---resorting to freezer meals)

Wacky Wednesday ...Already???

I can't believe it is Wednesday. N. was truly sick....I took him back to the doctor Monday morning. Diagnosis: Croup. So he has been home the last couple of days from school. Apparently he wasn't the only one. When I exchanged emails with his teacher yesterday, she mentioned 6 kids were out. (Note on the side---email is a beautiful things. Keeping up with teachers is so easy. What did people do in the dark ages???)

So what else has been going on???? My sewing machine decided it didn't like me trying to make buttonholes. It had a fit and when I took it for repair....my trusty repair women is away for a week. So I am out of commission for the week. Oh well! I can catch up on hand sewing, quilting on my Handiquilter and read.

I am going to volunteer tomorrow in A's class...although it is likely he will have a substitute as his teacher had to leave class today.

What I am reading: Dark Tort by Diane Mott Davidson

What was for Dinner: Orange/Adobe Pork Chops (from the freezer) and Rice Pilaf with peas.

Simply Sunday

Another day here in the sun. We had A's family birthday party yesterday (Thank you Famous Dave's BBQ). Here is the general rule of thumb here at our house..if it is a birthday, a long weekend or a previously planned event someone in my house is going to be sick. Well N. is down...........He even visited urgent care tonight.

The food was really good though. It really works well when there is minimum prep and clean up. Last night D., My mom, and Aunt Marlene cleaned up for me ----I say a big old thank you to them all. And to D.'s mom who passed out birthday cake last night.

I am so very tired after the last few days. I am hoping my system doesn't get so low that I get sick...and that goes for A. too.

Tomorrow is an extra day off. Sadly A. thought it was Independence Day. I really thought we had that holiday covered and that he new it was the same as July 4th. Apparently I was wrong.

Dinner: Chicken Nectarine salad
