Well, the last day of school quickly approaches.
We are preparing for that as well as battling sniffling noses. A is coughing and sniffing every so often. I hope he doesn't miss any days this week as he has a performance on Wednesday and also has karate awards. N is sad to see the end of school and frankly so am I. One, because I think Nathan and I are going to get on each others nerves and two, because I don't usually work in the quilt store during the summer. I might pick up a Saturday after my gallbladder comes out but that is a long time away for me.
So what is the plan for the summer to keep the kids occupied...
- Swim Lessons -Mon thru Thursday for 8 weeks
- Harkins Summer Movies- 10 previously viewed movies once a week. Harkins is the best.
-More karate lessons
-Water experiments
-Rocket experiments
-baking (some baking---people it gets to 120 in Phoenix who wants to turn on the oven and make it hotter?)
-art projects
-lots and lots of reading
-lots and lots of Wii
Can I survive 11 weeks--Yes I can!!! (I hope)
Sunday Dinner-Pork roast, grilled potatoes and uncut green beans--and a glass of Resling for the adults.

Happy Mother's Day
After a pleasant morning at home, we headed to the other side of the world (other side of town) to celebrate mothers day with D's mom and family. What an enjoyable day. Everyone chipped in a little bit. So no one had to take on too much.
And there were some yummy things. D's sister in law and brother made some delicious blueberry bars. I've asked for the recipe.
After brunch we traveled the long track back to our side of the world, stopping at Target for a vacuum cleaner. I am never happy after buying a vacuum cleaner. Everyone keep telling spend the money buy a Dyson---but I've heard quilters complain about them so.........I didn't do it.
We tried a delicious recipe from Lifetime's new show Cook Yourself Thin . We tried the Sweet and Sour Pork Chops. Yummy!!! I really liked it. Would it save me from ordering from Pei Wei's--maybe. But I felt a lot better about myself after feeding it to myself and my family.
Which leads me to a slightly diffrent topic...buying clothes. I hate shopping for clothes almost as much as a hate shopping for shoes. Yes there are people who don't like shopping for shoes. Any way, I tried on some shorts and I could fit in a XX with some room, so I tried on a smaller size. I could button them and and they weren't bad around the waist but the behind was tight. I couldn't bring myself to buy either. I just don't know how I could buy the larger pair when I am very slowly (snails pace) loosing weight.
Well enough of my odd ball thoughts and on to the rest of this rest day.
9 more days of school.

Wednesday Wishes
Good Morning!!
Well it is morning now anyway. The boys need to be on the bus in 20 minutes so this will be a quick one.
I have a birthday coming up and most of the time birthdays are really fun and I don't mind getting older. However yesterday I had a little moment that said I am getting old but I am not old.
My BF has been having health issues lately and compared to me she hardly ever sees doctors. Any way the point is things get serious really fast and it doesn't seem like we should be seeing so many specialists at our age. The next thing that hit me was at the bus stop waving to N and my arm fat was a jiggling away..ugh!!!! So by then I was feeling old....and then someone at work was telling me about there 37 year old daughter having her first baby. I said to myself "Hey I can still have babies---stop feeling so old" So the point I am making is that I am getting older and that is okay. . . enjoy the "age" you are. So I am going to enjoy the age I am an celebrate with delight the fact I am here --even if it will be a low fat celebration (thank you gallbladder).
Enjoy the "age" you are today---

BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN
Well---let's try this again folks.
It has been nearly a year since I have tried this blog thing.
Too much to catch up on....so here is the short version. A is doing better with school but still not doing well growing. Nathan is growing and has caught on to the reading thing. The School Year ends in a few short weeks. I am still working at a LQS and have found that my body no longer likes fatty foods (thus a trip to the OR to have my gallbladder removed which will happen a few weeks after school gets out). D is still the greatest husband in the whole world and I am thankful he puts up with me.
So what's up....My cousin and his wife have intrusted me with their youngest child for the night while they attend an "adult" wedding. They recently did not celebrate their own wedding anniversary, so keeping a child so they could have this night seems the least we could do (and I do mean we) I worked until 4 pm and D. kept the little tyke from 1pm until I got home. A and N were his helpers though.
Yesterday was the second meeting of the Hand Applique Group at the LQS where I work. I am really glad Darlene made the suggestion to the owner. It is fun to see everyone's projects especially now that I have really gotten into Hand Applique after taking the class in February. I have several projects going. I will get with my hubby tomorrow and maybe finally figure out this whole picture in a blog thing.
Dinner: Papa John's pizza (one slice because that is all my gallbladder will take)

Monday Madness
I went away for the weekend. DH kept the boys Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday. My husband ROCKS!!! Not only were the kids alive and fed...but my house looked like I had never left and he did 2 loads of laundry, folks!!! He's mine---and I'm keeping him!!!
However during the weekend, the summer finally kicked in for the boys and they got "bored" and grouchy. They have bickered all morning long and I just sent them to sit on their beds. Holy Toledo-KNOCK IT OFF!!!
I went to a quilting retreat. 8 women, 8 sewing machines, fabric, food, and a fantastic retreat site. It was a blast. We played Left, Center, Right with "Fat Quarters" and that was a riot.
Well I think I will release the boys from time out and head to swimming lessons.
Monday Dinner: Chicken Tender Stir-Fry (thank you Ms. Davis for the recipe) and Oreo Delight (thank you Candi)

Fantastic Friday
It's Friday----and for most of you hard working fellows it means the end of the work week.
For me it means we are a day closer to the start of school. Yeah I know it is still 10 weeks away but any small movement towards the goal is indeed movement. The boys actually haven't been extremely terrible (yet). They are not real happy with the the fact that they still have to do "school" work. TOO BAD BUBBAS! I know I am the "MEAN" Mom, but I remember what the beginning of school was like last year and I am not going through that with A. again. "My hand hurts"---"I'm tired of writing". How about a little cheese with that whine?
So this summer is a little bit of work and a little bit of play and we will see what the rest holds based on the behavior of the Bubbas.
Today I took them out to do errands. While not trying too think to much about the price of gas for the trip....I warned them that they were to behave in each store and keep there hands to themselves (apparently this is a lot harder than I remember it being when I was a kid). They each got one warning and then some sort of discipline ensued. For N. it was a time out. For A. it is to copy a times table 5 times (because he is not memorizing his times tables). A. has figured out which of the times tables are the easiest and always asks if he can choose those (1's,2's, 5's, 10's, and 11's)--which I always say "No---because obviously you have those memorized and need to work on the others" . Any way A. is having a friend over this afternoon. So at least he will be excited about something.
A. had his weight check yesterday. He has gained weight but not as much as they would've liked and they are sceptical that his height from last time was correct because they don't think he could have grown 2 cm in 6 weeks. While he is looking taller--2 cm is a a lot for that period of time.
Friday night dinner---Tequila Lime Turkey Tenderloin and bean burritos. YUM!!!!

MONDAY MONDAY-MEMORIAL DAY
Well we could try this again---I totally dropped off the face of the earth.
Just to busy with life. A. has been to multiple specialists to see why he isn't growing. Turns out there is no "medical" reason. However through an endcrinologist, a gastroenterologist, and a nutritionist he is gaining weight.
Feeding him is a full day..... 3 meals, 3 snacks, 1 to 2 supplement shakes---good fats, lots of proteins, calorie dense food. Now that school is out for the summer it should be a bit easier. School was also a chore for him this year and hopefully we will keep on track with "summer" work this summer so that the flow into 4th grade won't be as hard.
N. is now a 1st grader. Sadly we are done with Kindergarten. I had a very hard time saying goodbye to the kindergarten teacher. It was the same with the preschool teacher.... we know that we are done with these things . There is no child to follow behind N. Very sad.....but I still don't see another Moore in the future.
Well tomorrow is the first full day of summer break.....A. has Karate and N. will go to tomorrow nights class. We will tape Deadliest Catch to watch the next night.
Monday Dinner- Pork Chops (from the Pork Shop), seasoned potatoes, green beans and watermelon.
